Nestled in the San Rafael Hills just minutes from Los Angeles, Pasadena and the San Fernando Valley, Descanso Gardens is a botanic garden of year-round loveliness with landscapes both rugged and refined. A member-supported garden, Descanso welcomes each year more than 300,000 visitors from around the world who come to explore its Oak Woodland, Camellia Forest, International Rosarium and many other themed gardens. Overarching these gardens are hundreds of beautiful coast live oaks, a naturally occurring woodland in an urban setting.
Descanso Gardens is where arts, culture and nature intersect, with family-friendly seasonal festivals and nature-themed programs for all ages. The Sturt Haaga Gallery presents three exhibitions each year featuring works by noted artists. Summer brings extended evening hours with jazz and world music concerts, enjoyed on the Main Lawn while the audience picnics. Descanso Gardens is accredited by the American Association of Museums and is an International Camellia Garden of Excellence.
